Tammy Dean serves as the Director of Applied Learning and Senior Research Associate at the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell and has worked in corrections since 2006.
Her research centers on criminal justice systems, specializing in offender risk/needs assessment (particularly the Ohio Risk Assessment System), correctional training, and technical assistance for state/federal agencies. Dean's work bridges academic research with practical implementation across probation departments, youth services, and correctional facilities nationwide.
As Principal Investigator, she has secured over $1.5 million in grant funding from entities including the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Juvenile Justice, and state departments of corrections. Current projects focus on ORAS implementation in Ohio, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Nevada, with active multi-year contracts supporting data-driven corrections reform.
