Dr. Betsy Matthews is an Associate Professor and coordinator of online programming in the School of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University. She holds a PhD in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati (2004) and has professional experience as a child care worker in a residential treatment facility, adult probation officer, and research associate with the American Probation and Parole Association.
Her research focuses on juvenile justice, community corrections, correctional rehabilitation, women in the criminal justice system, and the role of social capital in desistance from crime. She serves as a consultant for the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute, providing training on evidence-based practices like risk assessment to state and federal agencies.
