Tamer Farag

Tamer Farag is a Researcher at the Division Digitalization and Participation, part of the Institute for Media and Communication Studies under the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Free University Berlin. He contributes to the research project "Media for Peace" (M4P), focusing on media systems in conflict contexts and digital communication.

His research explores media systems and conflict, alternative media, digital media's role in conflict zones, and communication strategies of social movements. Recent publications analyze hybrid media environments in Lebanon and conspiracy framing in U.S. and Egyptian media.

Current projects include theoretical frameworks for media systems in violent conflicts and algorithmic censorship resistance in the Arab region. He has presented at international conferences like ICA and DGPuK, emphasizing digital counter-publics and civic surveillance practices.

Key Collaborations: Co-authored works with Prof. Dr. Christoph Neuberger, Dr. Yangliu Fan, and colleagues in the Media for Peace project.
