Tamara Whited

Tamara Whited is a Professor in the Department of History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), housed within the College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs. Her office is located in Leonard Hall 304-N.

Education: PhD and MA from University of California at Berkeley; AB from Harvard University.

Research focuses on modern France, world environmental history, and food production systems. She authored key works like Forests and Peasant Politics in Modern France (2000) and Northern Europe: An Environmental History (2005). Current research examines alpine dairying and common property regimes in the Western Pyrenees.

Teaching includes courses on environmental history, modern France, postwar Europe, and World War I. Remote office hours available Monday-Thursday 2-4:30 PM and Friday 8 AM-4:30 PM.
