Tamara Barringer

Tamara Barringer is a Clinical Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School with over 35 years of expertise in estate planning, tax law, and commercial transactions. She teaches courses on contracts, secured transactions, negotiable instruments, securities regulation, and business entities. Professor Barringer founded and directs the MAC Mentorship Program and leads a weekend ethics course featuring industry experts discussing real-world ethical dilemmas.

Her research focuses on commercial law frameworks, transactional efficiency, ethical decision-making in accounting, regulatory compliance, and leadership development in professional education.

She previously served in the North Carolina Senate (2012-2018), chaired key legislative committees, and sponsored 32 bills enacted into law. Currently, she serves as Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. She holds a JD from UNC School of Law and a BSBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler.
