Tamalika Roy

Tamalika Roy serves as a Doctoral Research Fellow at Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) since 2023, conducting research under the 'Crafting Entanglements: Afro-Asian Pasts of the Global Cold War (CRAFTE)' project. Concurrently, she is a PhD candidate and UGC Senior Research Fellow at Jawaharlal Nehru University since 2022.

Roy's research centers on women's internationalism during the Cold War, specifically Indian women's Afro-Asian solidarity networks through the Women's International Democratic Federation (WIDF). She examines how these networks reshaped women's rights movements in India while reimagining societal roles within anti-war, anti-imperialist frameworks. Her interdisciplinary work bridges gender history, postcolonial theory, and performance studies.

Her publications reveal strong trends in cultural politics and marginalized narratives, particularly exploring how theatre functions as both historical document and activist tool in South Asian contexts. This reflects her dual focus on Cold War solidarity movements and contemporary performance activism.
