Duncan M. Yoon is Associate Professor at NYU Gallatin, specializing in African literature and its intersections with Asian studies. His award-winning book China in 20th and 21st Century African Literature (2023) examines literary representations of China across the African continent.
Research explores Afro-Asian cultural connections, Bandung-era solidarities, and Cold War literary networks. His work traces how African writers have imagined China through frameworks of postcolonial solidarity, economic engagement, and geopolitical repositioning.
Leadership roles include chairing the MLA forum on African Literature and conducting research as a Fulbright Scholar and Kluge Fellow.
