Dr. Tacey Atsitty is an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Beloit College in Wisconsin. She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Florida State University, an MFA from Cornell University, and bachelor’s degrees from Brigham Young University and the Institute of American Indian Arts. Her research and creative work focus on Indigenous narratives, contemporary poetry, and Navajo cultural themes. She has published two poetry collections: Rain Scald (2018) and (At) Wrist (2023), and her work appears in journals like POETRY and Kenyon Review Online.
Dr. Atsitty’s honors include the Wisconsin Brittingham Prize for Poetry. She serves on the Advisory Council for BYU’s Charles Redd Center for Western Studies and the board of Lightscatter Press. Her creative and academic work integrates Diné (Navajo) identity, leveraging her Tsénahabiłnii and Ta’neeszahnii clan affiliations to explore themes of cultural preservation and modern Indigenous experiences.
