Taavi Talve is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Installation and Sculpture at the Estonian Academy of Arts' Faculty of Fine Arts. He lives and works in Tallinn, Estonia, and has been active in the art scene since graduating with an MA in Fine Arts from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2008.
His artistic practice, rooted in neo-conceptualism, includes institutional criticism, spatialization of data, and textual foundations. Talve's works often reflect a melancholic fatalism and explore connections between historical events and contemporary contexts. His pieces are held in collections such as Tartu Art Museum, Kumu Art Museum, and Ludwig Museum Budapest.
As a co-founder of the artist group Johnson and Johnson since 2005, Talve has engaged in collaborative projects while maintaining a solo career. His interdisciplinary approach spans multiple media, emphasizing critical engagement with societal structures.
