Sven Schneider

Prof. Dr. Sven Schneider holds the W3 Professorship at Georg-August-University Göttingen's Institute of Inorganic Chemistry since 2012, previously serving at Friedrich-Alexander-University Nuremberg/Erlangen. His education includes a diploma from TU Darmstadt, PhD from Humboldt University Berlin, and postdoctoral work at Northwestern University.

Research focuses on catalytic nitrogen activation, sustainable energy conversion, and molecular design of transition metal complexes. Key achievements include mechanistic studies of dinitrogen splitting and development of pincer-ligand systems for sustainable chemistry. Current leadership includes roles as Spokesperson for DFG Collaborative Research Centre SFB 1633 and former Deputy Spokesperson for SFB 1073.

Honors include an ERC Consolidator Grant, multiple Emmy Noether fellowships, and recent distinguished lectureships in China. Representative publications in Nature Chemistry and JACS feature innovations in metallonitrene chemistry and cooperative catalysis.
