Suzanne McGinness

Suzanne McGinness is an Assistant Professor in the Illustration Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art. She holds a BFA in Illustration from the Cleveland Institute of Art (2007) and a Master of Arts in Children’s Book Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University, England (2009).

Her creative practice spans multiple media including drawing, painting, collage, photography, letterpress, and sculpture. She is the author and illustrator of My Bear Griz, recognized with the 2012 White Raven Award. Suzanne works as a freelance artist and children’s book illustrator alongside her academic role.

Her research interests focus on interdisciplinary approaches to visual storytelling and the intersection of traditional and modern illustration techniques. She actively contributes to the field through her published works and educational outreach in art education.
