Susan Tucker is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Manchester's Social Care and Society unit (formerly Personal Social Services Research Unit). She holds a PhD in healthcare planning for older adults with mental health challenges and has extensive NHS experience spanning clinical, managerial, and research roles. Her work focuses on optimizing health/social care mixes for vulnerable populations, particularly older adults, prisoners, and those with mental health needs.
Education: PhD (2021, University of Manchester), MSc in Social Research Methods, PG Dip in HR Management, B.A. in Business Studies, Registered Nurse qualifications in General and Mental Health Nursing.
Research priorities include the Balance of Care framework, mental health detection in care homes, and social care needs of prison populations. She led a major 2019-2021 project investigating post-release social care for prisoners with the Care Act 2014 implications.
