Charlie Cottam

Charlie Cottam is a registered nurse and Lecturer at the School of Health and Social Care, Sheffield Hallam University. He holds a BA (Hons.), PG Dip Healthcare, and PG Cert. His clinical expertise spans acute care, substance abuse, operational services, and safeguarding. He leads the Level 6 Transition to Practice (Registered Nurse) module and co-leads the Level 7 Maternal Mental Health & Recovery module. His work focuses on safeguarding curriculum development, multi-agency collaboration, and leadership in complex healthcare scenarios.

Research interests include safeguarding practices, maternal mental health recovery, and student nurse wellbeing. He has published on burnout among nursing students during the pandemic and peer support groups for mental health patients. Publications highlight his contributions to understanding mental health support mechanisms and pandemic-related stressors in healthcare education. His teaching spans all levels of the BSc (Hons.) Nursing program.
