Susan M. Scully

Susan M. Scully serves as Associate Professor and Director of School Counseling at Assumption University, where she has held academic and administrative roles for 25 years. Previously Chair of the Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies Department, she currently directs both School Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling programs while maintaining core faculty status.

Her educational credentials include:

• B.A. in Social Work from Michigan State University
• M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University
• Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University

Dr. Scully's research examines workplace disability management and rehabilitation counselors' roles in facilitating return-to-work processes for employees with chronic illnesses. Her teaching expertise spans counseling skill development, case management systems, and psychosocial dimensions of disability. As a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and Human Services-Board Certified Practitioner (HS-BCP), she integrates clinical experience working with youth with disabilities and adults facing substance use challenges or visual impairments. She has driven program development across human services disciplines to address evolving industry demands.

Dr. Scully maintains active program leadership while contributing to academic discourse through her specialized knowledge of disability-inclusive workplace practices and counseling methodologies.
