Summer Brown

Summer Brown serves as a Master Instructor in the Art Department within the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts at Howard University, where she teaches painting and exhibition design. Her career bridges academic instruction with professional practice in museum curation and visual arts.

Her educational background includes:

• B.F.A. in Painting from Howard University (Magna Cum Laude)
• M.F.A. in Museum Exhibition Planning & Design from The University of the Arts, Philadelphia (Magna Cum Laude)

Professor Brown's research and creative practice centers on contemporary painting techniques, spatial narrative in exhibition design, and pedagogical approaches to visual arts education. She actively integrates museum studies theory with hands-on curation, emphasizing interdisciplinary connections between fine arts and public exhibition spaces. Her studio practice focuses on expressive painting and drawing, with recent works featured at NYC's Blue Gallery.

Professionally, she has held significant roles including Exhibit Designer at Staples & Charles, Ltd. and Hargrove Inc., Curatorial Assistant at the U.S. Center of Military History, and Exhibition Coordinator at the NIH National Library of Medicine. She also taught art at Washington Latin Public School and The Children's Guild, and served as Adjunct Lecturer at Prince George's Community College prior to her current position.
