Prof Sujatha Raman is a Professor and UNESCO Chair in Science Communication for the Public Good at ANU's Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS). She holds a PhD in Public Policy (University of Pittsburgh), MS in Science & Technology Studies (Virginia Tech), and BSc Physics (University of Madras). Her work bridges science, technology, and society, focusing on energy transitions, antimicrobial resistance, planetary futures, and equitable sustainability frameworks.
Her research spans global North-South collaborations, including leading the UNESCO Chair program exploring science communication for UN Sustainable Development Goals. She has led major grants from organizations like the Australian Academy of Science, Wellcome Trust, and UK Research Councils, and serves on ANU's College of Science Reconciliation Action Plan Committee.
Raman's teaching includes courses on Science, Technology and Public Policy, and Science Communication for Planetary Crises. She has supervised 18 PhD students across diverse disciplines. Her 45+ publications span journals like Science, Environmental Science & Policy, and Journal of Responsible Innovation, addressing topics from quantum technology narratives to ethical AI governance.
