Veena Raman

Veena Raman is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences at Pennsylvania State University. She holds a B.A. from Bangalore University (1997), an M.A. in Media Studies (2001), and a Ph.D. in Mass Communications (2006), all from Penn State. Her research focuses on digital media's role in politics, electronic governance, and ethical implications of social media in political processes.

Research Interests: Dr. Raman explores how new media technologies shape democratic governance and public discourse. Her work examines citizen participation in environmental policymaking and the digital dimensions of environmental advocacy. She has authored a book on participatory democracy and digital governance and contributed chapters to academic publications on virtual public spheres.

Teaching: She teaches courses on rhetoric and civic engagement, political communication, and communication ethics. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes the intersections between technology, democracy, and ethical decision-making.
