Professor Sue Wright is Head of the Accounting Discipline Group at UTS Business School. Her research examines corporate governance, financial reporting regulation, and their impact on market performance, with focus on Australian banking, CEO remuneration, and SME reporting practices.
- Education: PhD analyzing accounting/share price information content for Australian banks (1960-1990), building on policy experience at Reserve Bank of Australia
Research investigates governance effectiveness through diverse lenses: board gender diversity impacts on non-GAAP disclosures, CEO power dynamics, and regulatory sanction effectiveness. Recent publications address contemporary challenges in climate accounting, cryptocurrency reporting, and SME financial inclusion.
As Co-editor-in-Chief of Australian Accounting Review and Associate Editor for Australian Journal of Management, she shapes scholarly discourse. Awards include Dean’s Award for Service to Academia (2013) and AFAANZ fellowship. Current projects include consultancy on oil stewardship regulations.
