Stéphane Cadiou is a Professor of Political Science at Lumière Lyon 2 University and affiliated with the Triangle research unit (UMR 5206). His academic career includes roles as lecturer at Jean Monnet University (2014-2022) and University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (2006-2014). He holds a PhD from Bordeaux Sciences Po (2002) and an HDR from Sciences Po Paris (2022).
Research focuses on governance, metropolitanization, urban policies, and local democracy. Key themes include interest group participation, municipal politics, and the democratic challenges of metropolitan institutions. Recent work explores commercial sector mobilization and citizen participation in urban governance.
Current projects include studies on metropolises and democracy, trader representation in cities, and urban regimes. He supervises three PhD theses and leads the 'Territorial Government' research axis at Triangle. Teaches in the Master 2 'Political Professions' program.
Publications span over 60 articles and books including Governing under Pressure? (2016) and Le pouvoir local en France (2009). Editorial board member of Métropoles journal and active in scientific organizations.
