Stuart Bevins

Dr. Stuart Bevins is a Senior Research Fellow at Sheffield Hallam University's College of Social Sciences and Arts, specializing in science education. He coordinates the European Commission-funded Chain Reaction project, involving 11 international partners to promote inquiry-based science learning. His roles include supervising doctoral and master’s students, leading research projects, and contributing to institutional development. He serves on editorial review boards for journals like the International Journal of Science Education and chairs viva voce examinations.

Stuart holds a PhD, MSc, and BA (Hons), alongside a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His research focuses on inquiry-based learning, teacher development, and social learning theories. Recent projects include the White Rose Consortium (co-supervising PhD students) and Engineering a Better World (UK Research Councils-funded).

His work emphasizes bridging academic research and classroom practice, particularly through collaborative frameworks like RA3 and initiatives to enhance science education in diverse contexts, including Thailand and the Philippines. Stuart’s publications span science curriculum design, teacher professional development, and international educational partnerships.
