Steven W. McLaughlin

Steven W. McLaughlin is the Dean and Southern Company Chair of the College of Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, leading 450 faculty and 13,000+ students. He is also a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department.

His research focuses on communications and information theory, including wireless communication systems, data storage, and cybersecurity. He has contributed to advancements in forward error correction, equalization, and evidence-based entrepreneurship through initiatives like CREATE-X.

McLaughlin co-founded CREATE-X in 2014, a program that launched 72 student-led companies and engaged over 1,500 students in entrepreneurship training.
