Dr. Steven Passmore is an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management. His research focuses on motor learning, spinal manipulation, elite athlete performance (particularly curling), and clinical applications in musculoskeletal care. He holds a PhD in Kinesiology from McMaster University, a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) from New York Chiropractic College, and advanced degrees in Kinesiology and Honours Kinesiology. Dr. Passmore leads grant-funded projects supported by Health Canada, Own the Podium, and the Canadian Chiropractic Research Foundation, emphasizing manual therapy dosage and spine care equity in Indigenous communities. He has been recognized with the 2020 Canadian Chiropractic Association Researcher of the Year award.
His clinical background includes practice at the VA Western New York Health Care System and roles in national guidelines (e.g., Canadian Chiropractic Guideline Initiative). He advises on global spine care through the World Spine Care Research Committee and the WHO’s World Rehabilitation Alliance. Current initiatives include Health Canada-funded spine care projects for the Pimicikamak people in northern Manitoba.
Dr. Passmore’s teaching spans anatomy and applied health sciences.
