Steven L. Moran

Steven L. Moran, M.D., is a Professor of Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He serves as Chair of the Division of Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery and Surgical Director of the Hand Transplant Program. His research focuses on regenerative medicine for skin and tendon repair, vascularized composite allotransplantation, and wrist arthritis. Clinically, he specializes in upper extremity disorders, microsurgical reconstruction, and congenital hand surgery.

Dr. Moran holds joint appointments in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Anatomy, and Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. He has held leadership roles in multiple professional organizations, including the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation. His awards include the Translational Science Award from Regenerative Medicine Minnesota and the Godina Traveling Fellowship.

He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has been actively involved in humanitarian surgical initiatives abroad, focusing on congenital hand deformities in children. His research emphasizes improving patient outcomes through innovative techniques in microsurgery and regenerative therapies.
