Steven George

Dr. Steven George is a Professor and Extension Horticulturist at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Dallas. He specializes in landscape horticulture and serves as National Coordinator of the Earth-Kind® Rose Program, which evaluates rose cultivars for pest tolerance and environmental performance. He created the Earth-Kind® Environmental Landscape Management System, promoting water conservation and eco-friendly practices.

Education:

• B.S. in Zoology, Oklahoma State University
• M.S. in Horticulture, Oklahoma State University
• Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, North Carolina State University

Research Focus: Sustainable landscaping, drought-tolerant plants, and integrated pest management. He leads initiatives to reduce environmental impact through practices like composting, efficient irrigation, and native habitat creation. His work emphasizes resource efficiency and environmental stewardship.

Labs/Teams: Coordinates the Earth-Kind® Rose Program and oversees the Earth-Kind Plant Selector database, which evaluates plant adaptability and resource efficiency across Texas regions.
