Steve Millington

Professor Steve Millington is a Professor of Place Management at Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School. He serves as a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Place Management and holds the role of Faculty Academic Lead for Research Impact. His work bridges academic research with real-world applications, particularly in place management, public space, and urban regeneration.

Research Interests: Professor Millington's research focuses on placemaking, sustainable high street regeneration, public space design, and the role of urban environments in fostering community. He explores topics such as the impact of football on place branding, innovative district development, and the revitalization of declining urban centers.

Advising and Grants: Millington supervises PhD students in areas like placemaking and sustainable development. His research has been supported by grants from ESRC, Innovate UK, and the Department for Levelling Up, including projects like the INTERREG ABCitiEs Project and the ESRC High Street UK 2020 Project. He has also contributed to national initiatives such as the High Streets Task Force.
