Stephen Thomas is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Blizard Institute, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. He also holds the title of Professor at Harvard University and serves as system chairman for Emergency Medicine in the State of Qatar. Additionally, he is chief of service at Hamad General Hospital, one of the world’s highest-volume Level I trauma centers.
Education:
- MD from Louisiana State University (1990)
- Masters in Public Health (Quantitative Methods concentration) from Harvard University (1999)
Research Interests:His clinical research focuses on prehospital medicine, analgesia, and the evaluation of new technologies in air medical and emergency department (ED) settings. His work spans applications in emergency care, helicopter EMS, and trauma systems management.
Teaching:He serves as deputy chair and Year 3 lead for the MSc Emergency and Resuscitation Medicine programme at Queen Mary University.
Professional Memberships:
- Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM), where he chaired the Undergraduate Education Committee
- National Association of Emergency Medical Services Physicians (NAEMSP), as chair of the Air Medical Services Task Force
