Stephen R. Todd is a Professor at Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Classics and Philosophy. He also teaches Greek at Beeson Divinity School. His academic leadership includes chairing departments at Baylor University and directing interdisciplinary programs. Educated at Furman University (BA in Greek/Religion), and Vanderbilt University (MA/PhD in Classical Studies), his studies included residency at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens.
His research focuses on classical antiquity's transitions, particularly archaic Greek military/political structures and intersections between classical culture and early Christian texts. Todd has extensive international teaching experience across 12+ countries, leading student programs in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions.
He holds dual appointments across Samford's campus and collaborates with his wife, Dr. Candace Todd (Samford Mathematics Professor), while raising four children. His academic career includes prior roles at Baylor University where he developed core interdisciplinary curricula.
