Shannon R. Flynt is an Assistant Professor of Classics at Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences. She joined the faculty in 2000 after completing her PhD in Art History and Archaeology at the University of Missouri, where she earned a Huggins Fellowship and the Donald K. Anderson Graduate Student Teaching Award. Her research focuses on Roman archaeology, particularly the Roman army and frontier systems in Europe.

Flynt teaches courses such as Classics Senior Capstone and The Rediscovery of the Classical World, while also contributing to the University Core curriculum. She previously served as Samford's Fulbright Program Advisor and coordinated the University Fellows Italy program, leading international study trips for nearly two decades.
