Stephen John is an Adjunct Assistant Teaching Professor of Music at the University of Notre Dame's College of Arts and Letters. He holds a B.A. in Music Composition from Indiana University and an M.M. in Music Composition and Guitar Performance from the University of Redlands, where he studied with members of the Falla Trio and L.A. Guitar Quartet.
A professional guitarist, composer, and instructor since 1980, he blends classical, jazz, popular, and folk traditions in his original works. He founded the Miller Guitar Academy and co-published the 'Guitar Academy' instructional series with his wife Joellen. His teaching emphasizes practical application through programming assignments and hands-on projects.
