Stephen J Brooke

Dr. Stephen J Brooke is a Professor and Chair in the Department of History at York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. His research specializes in 20th century British history with focus on politics, gender, sexuality, and culture. His forthcoming book 'London, 1984: Conflict and Change in the Radical City' examines urban transformation during a critical historical period.

Dr. Brooke is currently leading a SSHRC-funded project titled 'Politics and Emotion in Britain, c.1970 to c.1970' examining emotional dimensions of racism, inequality, and globalization during transformative decades. He maintains editorial responsibilities for major history journals and has served on numerous academic committees.
