Stephen Farry is Professor of Strategic Policy in Practice and Co-Director of the Strategic Policy Unit at Ulster University. He holds a PhD in International Relations from Queen’s University Belfast and has extensive government experience, including serving as Northern Ireland's Minister for Employment and Learning (2011-2016). He played key roles in the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement negotiations and subsequent peace processes.
His research interests include:
- Strategic policy design and implementation
- International conflict resolution and peacebuilding
- Employment and skills policy development
- Political governance in divided societies
He leads the Strategic Policy Unit, which focuses on translating academic insights into practical policy solutions. His affiliations include senior roles at the US Institute of Peace and the National Democratic Institute.
