Stephen Cavitt is a Graduate Teaching Instructor II and Coordinator in the Department of Language & Literature at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). He holds an MFA from Georgia College (2009) and a BA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (2006). Cavitt has extensive teaching experience at institutions including Duke University, the University of Tennessee, Georgia College, and Chattanooga State Community College. His research and teaching focus on creative writing, composition, leadership, and mindfulness. He is currently working on his first novel and leads academic groups internationally, having guided programs in diverse locations from the Appalachian trails to Shanghai. Cavitt teaches courses such as Composition I and II, Introduction to Creative Writing, and Special Topics in Creative Writing.
