Stephen Broomer is a Sessional Instructor at the University of Toronto. He is a filmmaker, writer, and film preservationist specializing in Canadian experimental cinema. His work bridges artistic practice and scholarly research, with a focus on avant-garde film traditions and cultural history.
- Educational Background: Postdoctoral Fellow at Brock University's Centre for Canadian Studies (sponsored by the International Council of Canadian Studies); Fulbright Visiting Scholar at UC Santa Cruz and the Prelinger Library (2020).
Research interests include film preservation, Canadian avant-garde cinema, and the poetics of home movies.
