Stephen Berg

Dr. Stephen Berg is an Associate Professor at the Okanagan School of Education, University of British Columbia. He serves as the Director of Professional Programs and Summer Institute in Education and is actively affiliated with the Centre for Early Childhood Education & Research (CECER). With extensive teaching experience across K-12 and post-secondary levels in British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia, Dr. Berg brings practical expertise to his academic work.

Dr. Berg earned his Bachelor of Education, Master of Education, and PhD from the University of Alberta. His educational background has prepared him for his current role where he teaches courses in Physical Education and Health Education at UBC Okanagan.

Dr. Berg's research focuses on the critical intersection of physical activity, health education, and early childhood development. His primary interests include examining how outdoor environments in early learning centers impact children's physical activity levels, action research in student-led health promotion, and comprehensive school health approaches. He leads an IDG SSHRC-funded study investigating environmental effects on physical activity in early learning settings.
