Dr. Stephen Badalyan Riegg is an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University, specializing in the histories of Modern Europe, Imperial Russia, and the Caucasus. His research focuses on imperial policies, colonialism, and ethnic minorities within empires. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina (2016).
Research Interests: Empires & Colonialism, the dynamics of Russian imperial governance in the Caucasus, and the intersection of Western European expatriates in Russian borderlands. His current project explores Russian improvisation of policies toward European expatriates in 19th-century Caucasus, supported by prestigious fellowships.
