Dr. Stephanie Knight is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Chief of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Center - Midtown Campus, where she also serves as Chief of Clinical Services for the Department of Psychiatry. She specializes in adult psychiatry with clinical focus on depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder.
Knight completed her medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine and residency at University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt, serving as chief resident. Her academic work includes grand rounds presentations on managing difficult patient behaviors and collaborative HIV care approaches. She has developed workshops on first psychiatric hospitalization experiences for the American Psychiatric Association.
Her research examines restraint reduction in residential treatment settings and neuropsychiatric effects of medications. Knight teaches medical students and residents, with professional interests in community psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, and population health approaches.
