Stephan von Hoff

Stephan von Hoff is a bassoon lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock since 1999, specializing in bassoon, contrabassoon, and Baroque bassoon instruction. He holds a Konzertexamen from the Berlin University of the Arts (1996) and studied historical performance at Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts under Christian Beuse.

His career includes roles as bassoonist with the Staatskapelle Schwerin (since studies) and Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock (since 1994). He collaborates with ensembles like Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg and the Göttingen International Handel Festival Orchestra. His performance history spans Europe with groups including Les Arts Florissants and Collegium 1704.

Training includes masterclasses with S. Azzolini, A. Rinderspacher, A. Holder, and M. Werba. His expertise bridges classical and baroque repertoires, emphasizing historically informed performance practices.
