Christian Beuse is a Visiting Professor of Baroque Bassoon and Chamber Music at the University of the Arts Berlin since the 2023/24 winter term. He holds affiliations with the Institute for Artistic Training / Early Music and has extensive international performance experience. A renowned bassoonist specializing in historical performance practices, he has been a member of prominent ensembles such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and Nikolaus Harnoncourt’s Concentus Musicus Wien for 15 years. Since 1992, he has been part of the Reichasche Quintet, focusing on Early Romantic repertoire, producing eight CDs under the New Classical Adventure label.
His teaching career includes positions at the Conservatory in Vienna (1995–2001), Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen (2000–2005), Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main (since 2001), and Hochschule für Künste Bremen (since 2004). He has also taught at the Universität der Künste Berlin since 2006 and led masterclasses at the International Summer Academy for Early Music in Innsbruck.
With over 100 CD recordings spanning Renaissance to Romantic eras, Beuse’s performances have taken him to major venues across Europe and globally, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, and the U.S. His work emphasizes authentic early music interpretations and pedagogical contributions to baroque bassoon techniques.
