Stephan Bauman

Stephan Bauman serves as a Visiting Fellow at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), focusing on refugee resettlement and migration experiences through community-led research initiatives.

His research centers on Participatory Action Research (PAR) with former refugees and asylees in Western Michigan, examining meaning-making processes in migration narratives. He collaborates with resettled communities to co-design curricula for refugee service providers, emphasizing empowerment and cultural integration. This work directly supports UN Sustainable Development Goals related to reduced inequalities and sustainable communities.
