Stella Kanchewa

Dr. Stella Kanchewa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on psychosocial development during adolescence and the transition to adulthood, emphasizing mentoring relationships, social capital, and interventions for underrepresented college students.

• Education: B.A. in Psychology (University at Buffalo), M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (University of Massachusetts Boston).

Her work explores the role of supportive relationships and community strengths in promoting positive outcomes, particularly for first-generation college students. Recent publications highlight mentoring interventions, social capital, and psychosocial processes in educational settings.

Dr. Kanchewa teaches courses such as Introductory Psychology, Psychology of Learning, and Abnormal Psychology, with additional interests in multicultural psychology and life-span development. She actively mentors students through academic advising, research supervision, and extracurricular support.
