Stefanie Pfister

Stefanie Pfister is an Associate Professor in the Department of Practical Theology and Religious Education at the University of Münster, appointed in January 2019. She concurrently serves as a secondary school teacher for Protestant religious education, German, and sports since February 2015.

Her academic background includes a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Dortmund (2008), First and Second State Examinations in Protestant Theology (2002, 2008), and studies in Protestant Theology, German Studies, and Sports Science at Dortmund (1998–2002). Prior appointments include Acting Professor at TU Dortmund (2012–2015), Lecturer roles at TU Dortmund and University of Duisburg-Essen (2011–2015), and Research Assistant at WWU Münster (2010–2012).

Professor Pfister’s research centers on religious education development in German secondary schools, Protestant curriculum design for Sekundarstufe I, sociological analysis of Messianic Judaism in Germany, and foundational religious pedagogy. Her work integrates empirical classroom experience with theological scholarship, emphasizing practical applications for diverse student populations.

Her publications examine historical-religious education frameworks in Realschulen and Messianic Jewish communities, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement with sociology, theology, and educational policy. Recent outputs include updated editions addressing contemporary religious pluralism in German schools.

She received the Teaching Award for Outstanding Commitment to Teaching at TU Dortmund in 2014. Professional memberships include:
