Stefania Licata serves as Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies in the Department of Languages, Cultures and Literatures at Converse University, specializing in Contemporary Migration from Africa towards Spain and Spanish language pedagogy.

Her research employs interdisciplinary frameworks examining cultural crossings between Africa and Spain across the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, with emphasis on Afro-Hispanic Postcolonial Studies (particularly Equatorial Guinea), Women's Studies, and Visual Arts. She investigates hybrid cultural productions through the lens of colonial legacies in contemporary social imaginaries, currently finalizing the book manuscript "De África a España: (In) Visibilidades migratorias en el siglo XXI" under contract with UniPaPress.
Dr. Licata founded and directs the Spanish Writing and Language Center in Mickel Library, liaises with the international Memità research network (focusing on memory, identity, and media communication analysis), and holds active memberships in the Centro de Estudios Afro-Hispánicos (CEAH) at UNED Madrid and the College Language Association's Standing Committee for International Exchange and Outreach.
