Dr. Stacy Baker is a Professor of Music specializing in Tuba/Euphonium at Morehead State University (KY). Her distinguished career includes receiving the 2016-2017 Distinguished Creative Productions Award and the 2014-2015 Distinguished Teacher Award. Originally from Harsens Island, MI, she earned summa cum laude degrees from the University of Michigan (BM, MM) and a D.M.A. with highest honors from the University of Illinois.
Research and Performance Highlights: A leading brass performer, Baker focuses on tuba and euphonium chamber music, pedagogy, and wind band literature. She co-founded SymbiosisDuo to promote tuba/euphonium duets as a performance medium and has premiered groundbreaking works, including Franz Cibulka’s Concerto for Tuba Quartet and Wind Band and Eduardo Nogueroles’ The World of Dreams. Her collaborations with composers and ensembles highlight her commitment to expanding repertoire for low brass.
