Sophie Johnson

Sophie Johnson is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Interior Design at Canadian University Dubai's School of Architecture and Interior Design. With over 20 years of experience, she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses and previously held positions at Ravensbourne University and University of the Arts London institutions. She holds a Master's in Design History from the Royal College of Art and is currently pursuing a practice-led PhD there examining design thinking in creative processes.

Her research explores design thinking methodologies, domestic space evolution, and furniture design innovation, with recent work addressing housing as cultural infrastructure. Scholarly outputs demonstrate consistent focus on architectural anthropology and pedagogical innovation, particularly through conceptual investigations of domestic environments in societal contexts.

She has supervised over 65 graduation projects, established industry partnerships for student internships/competitions, and contributes to academic governance through:
