Dr. Sophie Adams is a Research Fellow at the University of New South Wales, jointly affiliated with the School of Humanities and Languages and the Centre for Social Research in Health. As a human geographer and Science and Technology Studies scholar, her research examines adaptive governance in climate change response, renewable energy, and public health.
Current research investigates the role of mathematical modeling in COVID-19 policy responses and changing requirements for weather/climate forecasting in energy systems. She leads the ESKIES project studying energy resilience in communities affected by power disruptions during extreme weather events. Her work combines social science perspectives with technical analysis of energy systems and policy frameworks.
Recent publications analyze gender bias in student evaluations, climate adaptation in electricity sectors, and participatory modeling approaches for public health. She collaborates internationally through the International Energy Agency's User-Centred Energy Systems Technology Collaboration Programme.
