Sonia Assa

Sonia Assa is Associate Professor of Modern Languages at SUNY Old Westbury, specializing in women's writing and surrealism in French and Hispanic literatures.

Her research explores female representation in North African cinema and feminist literary traditions. Publications analyze domestic spaces in film and surrealist aesthetics in contemporary theater.

Assa teaches courses in French language, Hispanic women writers, and contemporary theater. Her recent conference presentations examine female filmmakers Marguerite Duras and Agnès Varda.
