Sokonie Reed

Dr. Sokonie Reed is an Assistant Professor in Residence at Bradley University's College of Education & Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. She joined the faculty in August 2011 and holds the distinction of being the first full-time faculty member to earn all three degrees (B.S.N., M.S.N., D.N.P.) from Bradley.

Research Focus: Her scholarship centers on public health equity with emphasis on HIV prevention, healthcare access, food insecurity, and interprofessional collaboration. Her doctoral project implemented PREP strategies for HIV prevention in primary care.

• Board member: Peoria City/County Health Department (2020-Present)
• Board member: League of Women Voters Greater Peoria (2022-Present)
• Active member: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Black Nurses Association

Clinical Expertise: 15+ years spanning medical-surgical, oncology, hospice, and orthopedics, with extensive travel nursing experience across U.S. healthcare facilities.
