Dr. Sofie Roberts is a Research Officer in Health Economics at the School of Health Sciences, Bangor University, and a member of the Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation (CHEME). She specializes in climate and health research, focusing on place-based approaches and community engagement in environmental sustainability initiatives. Her interdisciplinary work bridges public health economics, greenspace analysis, and postcolonial film studies. She holds a PhD in Media (2022), MA in Film and Media Studies (2012), and BA in English Literature with Film (2009).
Her research emphasizes community perceptions of climate projects, low-carbon transitions, and the intersection of health and environmental well-being. She contributes to the Sustainability Team at the School of Health Sciences and serves on the management board of the Places of Climate Change Research Centre. Recent projects include evaluating greenspace interventions in Rhyl, Wales, and analyzing obesity-related healthcare costs. She is a Welsh speaker and actively promotes cultural heritage through her work.
Key achievements include the Cultural Ambassador (2024) and Lightning Talk Award (2025). Dr. Roberts collaborates with organizations like the Reclaim Network and Denbighshire County Council, addressing climate adaptation and public health challenges.
