Siwan Roberts

Siwan Roberts is a Lecturer in Education: Childhood & Youth Studies at the School of Education and affiliated with the School of Psychology & Sport Science at Bangor University. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology and has academic qualifications from both Bangor and Cardiff Universities.

Her research focuses on relational health for children, particularly exploring how intergenerational adversity impacts mental health through mechanisms like parent-child attunement, neural synchrony, and child empathy. This work combines longitudinal data analysis and neuroimaging techniques (fNIRS) to assess parent-child interactions in high vs. low adversity groups.

Key areas of investigation include trauma-informed interventions, early diagnosis alternatives, and community-based mental health solutions. Her recent Welsh-language media engagements emphasize culturally responsive approaches to mental health policy.
