Simão Teixeira

Simão Teixeira is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) in the Domingues Research Group, where he works on ERC Grant FORTIFy and FCT project Wi-Pi.

His educational background includes:

• Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering – Molecular Biotechnology from the University of Porto (2017)
• PhD in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells from the University of Minho (2024), with research conducted at 3B's Research Group and secondments at UCL and ETH Zurich

Dr. Teixeira's research centers on the synthesis of molecularly imprinted nanoparticles for abiotic protein recognition, aiming to control stem cell responses. He integrates these systems with magnetic technologies in biomimetic tissue constructs for regenerative therapies targeting musculoskeletal disorders, as well as in vitro models to advance understanding of physiological and pathological processes in the musculoskeletal and nervous systems.

He has contributed to several research projects including ERC MagTendon, Twinning project Achilles, ERC Grant FORTIFy, and FCT project Wi-Pi. Additionally, he served as an I3B student representative at UMinho Doctoral College from 2020 to 2022 and co-organised five international conferences.

His scholarly output includes five Q1 publications (four as first author), one patent, and 14 conference presentations. He has received multiple awards for his work.
